Introduction to Art | 2D+3D

As most of architecture students have no experience with design, this course aims to introduce the element of art for designing architectural objects. It focuses on giving the students the opportunity to get involved in designing thing with their own hand, either 2D or 3D. This course involves an intensive practice in a design studio where students can interact with each other to share their ideas. Also, the recent class brings the experience into life by visiting a handicraft centre nearby. This strategy significantly gives inspiration to the students on how their design will suit industry in a simple way.

Computer Architectural Drawing | 2D+3D

Nowadays, mastering computer as a main tool in developing architectural design becomes compulsory. This course is designed to enable students to work efficiently and independently with computer to draw architectural objects, both 2D and 3D. A designated guidebook helps them to practice drawing simple object to complex object with minimum supervision. In the end of the course, they are expected to develop a set of house design document which includes plans, elevations, sections, details, as well as 3D models. This strategy gives them a minimum standard to achieve yet also encourages and challenges them to push their limit to produce more complex work.

Studio

Design Studio

Design studio is the heart of architecture course in most of architecture schools across the globe. This course provides an opportunity to students to experience working with real architectural projects. They will have the same challenge and problem but they will have different ideas to response. In early stages, usually students get a close supervision, while later they have to work more independently. By the end of the course, students learn not only how to present their work in drawing and documents but also how to defend their idea to the audience.

Fieldwork

Industrial Visit and Fieldwork

Since 2008, the curriculum formally includes industrial visit and fieldwork into the course. It aims to expose students to real architectural projects or development problems in life. Usually, the course requires them to travel and stay for a short period of time. The journey encourages them to sense not only architectural objects but also develop good communication skill and team work. In the end of course, they will share the experience to public by having an exhibition or public presentation.
